ABOUT THE COURSE
The Forró Workout Series is a guided dance practice program designed to help dancers strengthen movement fluency, coordination, rhythm, endurance, and technical familiarity through continuous solo forró practice.
Created during the pandemic years as part of the Forró New York online platform, the program was developed as a way for dancers to continue practicing movement vocabulary, footwork variations, timing, coordination, and musical responsiveness through longer uninterrupted dance sessions at home.
Each session combines basic steps, variations, turns, directional changes, rhythmic patterns, transitions, and traditional forró movement vocabulary into 30-minute guided dance practices performed continuously with music.
All exercises are practiced individually, allowing you to fully focus on your own body awareness, balance, posture, musical timing, and movement quality without needing a partner.

Although the movement vocabulary revisits many foundational forró structures and variations throughout the series, each workout reorganizes the material differently through new playlists, sequencing, rhythmic combinations, transitions, and movement dynamics.

GUIDED PRACTICE & MOVEMENT TRAINING
This guided warm-up and practice session was recorded during an in-person forró workshop in New York exploring rhythm, coordination, body awareness, movement fluency, and continuous dance practice through solo training.
The sessions inside the Forró Workout program follow a similar practice structure, combining guided movement repetition, footwork variations, rhythmic training, transitions, and continuous dancing through full-length practice routines.
Unlike this workshop recording - where you see both the instructor and the group practicing together - the classes inside the online program are filmed from behind the instructor, allowing students to follow and practice the movements more naturally as if participating directly in the session.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Rafael Piccolotto de Lima is the Founder and Educational Director of Forró New York, where he has been developing classes, workshops, and online training programs focused on rhythm, musicality, movement development, and social dancing since 2017.
His teaching approach combines technical development, movement awareness, musical interpretation, and guided practice systems designed to support more fluid and confident dancing.
